What's the difference between freelancing, consulting and fractional work?
Fractional roles mix strategy with hands-on work, making key decisions, leading teams, managing projects, and often doing the work themselves, depending on the project’s needs.
Freelancers focus on specific tasks like design, writing, or development. Consultants, meanwhile, provide high-level advice to help businesses reach their big-picture goals, without getting involved with the day-to-day operations.

Hi, I'm Michael, founder of The Fractional Hub.
I’ve spent years working across project management, ops and strategy in creative agencies, e-learning companies, and fast-growing startups. I started The Fractional Hub because I kept meeting people who were brilliant at what they did, but unsure how to turn that into a flexible, fulfilling career. After countless calls chatting through fractional work with talented individuals wanting advice, we created a course and a community to bridge the gap and help people get their fractional careers off the ground.
